I Need a Light

I am lost

the dark that never bothered me
as a child
now breathes and moves
brings monsters that were hiding under my bed
to life
it yearns to drink
my innocence
like a newborn vampire freshly awakened from the grave

My kingdom for some holy water!
anything to clear the blood
pounding through me

footsteps are getting closer
I cannot outrun my shadow
it festers in secrets
creates secret societies
societies in hiding demanding the truth
a silent shout that no one can hear
who would want to?

I push
fight
scream against the coming storm

My light has vanished
that shimmering
narrow beacon of hope

which wasn’t enough to conquer the nightmares
In fact it gave them a taste of who I am

and I am sweet.

Seduce Me

"Seduce me. Write letters to me. And poems, I love poems. Ravish me with your words. Seduce me."
Anne Boleyn

Words unravel who we are, what we want, and what we covet.
Rise to the occasion and unhook the seven veils of my desire
Peel the layers one by one like Salomè.
Leave me breathless
Seduce me.
Use your words to caress the innermost portions of my mind.
Enter my imagination and ravish me.
Pray at the altar that is my body and stir a fevered need
Keep me restless
That is a sign of your devotion.
You hunger for words unspoken to move me
You wonder if daring deeds and bold moves will shake my heart
That is not the way
Write a poem on my skin
Pay homage to my hips
Leave me breathless.
Seduce me.
For nothing is more erotic than to be understood.

What is Poetry to Me?

I have a craving
a need to write
It courses through my fevered mind
causing the fire of creation to my fingertips
as I grasp pulsating pen to paper there is a release
I am satisfied for the moment but never satiated
not fully
next idea
half-baked and irresistble
soldiering on a new chapter
